He told if Lady Godiva dared to be naked on the streets he would decrease the taxes as required. To show her seriousness, Lady Godiva stripped all her clothes and rode on a horse across the streets of Coventry naked! The people loved her very much by her great dedication and no one went outside to avoid making the Lady embarrassed.

2. Birth of Venus

Sandro Botticelli's Birth of Venus is displayed showing the Goddess Venus landing at the shore after her birth with her fully grown body. What is most striking is thus she appears in a “no clothes body” but very wise to cover her tight and full breasts with her right hand and her genitals with her long hair. No one may know the subject of the composition, but suggestions are made that it probably depicts Venus as a symbol of beauty and love, a thing all men agree.

The inspiration behind William-Adolphe Bouguereau's The Abduction of Psyche was based on the Latin novel, not surprisingly known as the Golden Ass! In the myth, Princess Psyche couldn't fathom the fact that Goddess Venus was earning more beauty accolades than herself. Out of rage, Goddess Venus ordered Cupid her son lure Psyche to make love with a beast. The unexpected or rather the expected to us happened! Instead, Cupid fell in love with Psyche. After lots of trials and obstacles, the two culprits got immortalized and the two in love beings as portrayed in the painting ascended to heaven where they married and remained happily after that.
