Brief Introduction of Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was an Italian painter during the Renaissance period. Da Vinci, gifted in both art and mathematics, is one of the most renowned painters and thinkers in history. He spent six years working and learning under the artist Verrocchio and joined the Guild of Saint Luke at the age of 20. Prior to his death, he resided in France in a residence provided by King Francois I. As per his wishes, sixty beggars followed Leonardo's casket during his funeral. Most of his notable oil paintings were completed after the 1500s.
Painting Style
Like many Renaissance painters, Leonardo created numerous religious oil paintings, including "The Madonna of the Carnation" - a portrait of the Virgin Mary adoring her baby son, Jesus. During the final phase of his life, Da Vinci produced a greater number of oil paintings than ever before. Upon returning to Florence in 1500, the artist made significant progress on his works, including "Virgin and Child with Saint Anne". Leonardo also embarked on the creation of his most famous and widely replicated oil painting, "The Mona Lisa". Drawing from his studies of human anatomy, Da Vinci developed a mathematical system for determining size in space, a technique he applied to the positioning of Mona Lisa's torso, head, and eyes, each turned slightly more towards the viewer.
